The Coronet is an automobile that was marketed by Dodge in seven generations. Introduced as a full-size car in 1949, it was the division's highest trim line and moved to the lowest level starting in 1955 through 1959. The name was reintroduced on intermediate-sized models from the 1965 to 1976 model years. In the 1980s, the Coronet was used on Dodge models marketed in Colombia.
1976 was the final model year for the Dodge Coronet and its body style choices reduced to the four-door wagon and the four-door sedan. The former Dodge Coronet 2-door model was replaced by the Dodge Charger Sport 2-door model, which, was marketed for the 1976 model year.
For the 1977 model year, the mid-size Dodge Coronet was renamed Monaco. Likewise, full-size Dodge Monaco was renamed the Dodge Royal Monaco for 1977.
