Paragon Models 2016 BMW X5 City of London Police
Beautifully done, both the base BMW X5 model and the UK "Battenberg" checkerboard graphics. There are photos of the exact vehicle this model is based on available on the Internet, and a comparison shows that it is a close, but not exact, match, with very minor variations in the dividing lines between the yellow and blue Battenberg blocks.
The blue and yellow colors seem to be decals and not tampo printing, which actually is great because the colors on the real vehicles are adhesive vinyl pieces or something similar, not paint.
I almost didn't buy this model because the photos on the website didn't show the City of London force graphic on the model, but I read online that the decals were included separately - dealers and sellers should note that in their descriptions. The waterslide decals (not stickers) are packaged separately for application by the collector, and they go on very well. Most important, as they have a white background and cover parts of four of the blue and yellow Battenberg blocks, they are fully opaque and do not show any of the underlying colors. The lightbar is a faithful copy of the original as are the license plates and roof markings.
My only complaint is that the display case was very hard to open - almost as if it was sealed shut - and that's necessary to apply the decals. When I finally managed to pry the lid off (I was being careful and using only my hands and thumbnail), it came off suddenly and took one of the side mirrors with it. I managed to put the mirror back on with super glue, but it left a slight scratch on the yellow block just below the mirror.
