During the entire construction period of the Porsche 356 from 1948 to 1965, more than 76,000 examples
of this classic sports car were produced. The 356 Porsche was delivered to its enthusiastic customers as a coupe, convertible, hardtop coupe and also as a particularly sporty and light Speedster. The spartanly equipped Speedster was created at the suggestion of the German-American Max Hoffmann, the Porsche importer for the United States at the time. Incidentally, it was also Max Hoffmann who, during a dinner convinced Ferry Porsche to create a memorable brand emblem for his sports cars in order to increase the brand identity. The result of his efforts was the Porsche crest, which is so famous today.
