Corgi Re-Creation 1:49 1961 Oldsmobile Super 88: County Sheriff
This model is an authentic replica of the original model first produced in 1962 It comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
This attractive standard saloon version of Corgi’s classic Oldsmobile Super 88 casting was introduced into the range in 1962. Modelled on a fifth generation Oldsmobile Super 88, Corgi 235 is an unheralded gem in their 1960s-era back catalogue. Less than 350,000 were produced, making it one of the rarer Corgi Super 88 models – a situation resulting from Corgi’s promotional activity largely concentrating on the Sheriff Car version, which had been released earlier in the year.
Original models of Corgi 235 came in differing shades of blue – notably a mid metallic blue and the striking pale blue that was chosen for this Corgi Model. All were presented in the same illustrated box, which depicted the car with a yellow ochre body and a black roof – a scheme the model was never issued in. Corgi 235 was deleted from the range after just three years – adding to its collectability today.
