Minichamps
1956 Porsche 356 Speedster, Black 1:43 Diecast Model Car by Minichamps
This model comes mounted on a base in an acrylic dispaly case
The Porsche 356 was designed by Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche, the son of Ferdinand Porsche. Porsche used many parts of the Volkswagen for production, such as the air-cooled boxer engine. This is because he was involved in the development of this car in the 1930s. The body was designed by Porsche employee Erwin Komenda. The mechanical parts, including the engine, shock absorber and chassis, were built by Volkswagen. The first Porsche 356 was certified on June 8, 1948 in Gmünd, Austria. The Porsche 356 built in Gmünd was made of aluminum until production moved to Stuttgart, Germany in 1950. After that, steel was used until 1965.
Initially, the designers had in mind an efficient coupé, but some open-top cars were also planned. The Porsche 356 was a four-seater, but only two emergency seats were fitted in the back.
Powers increased from 40 hp to 130 hp.
The 356 did not do wrong in racing either.
